Lake and Reservoir Construction

Creating and Restoring Lakes

Restoring or creating a lake or reservoir can be a complex yet rewarding undertaking. The process involves planning, excavation, and shaping of the land to hold water efficiently, as well as, the surrounding landscape where the spoil may be lost. At Lake and Pond Aquatics the goal is to seamlessly blend these man-made water features into the surrounding landscape, ensuring it not only serves its practical purpose but also enhances the overall aesthetic appeal of the area.

To carry out this work we use all of our own machinery, not only does this reduce the cost of this work but it improves the efficiency of our team, as we are not restricted by hire companies' timeframes.

Planning and Executing a Successful Lake or Reservoir Build

A survey of the land to determine the best location based on factors such as water source, drainage, and topography is essential when planning a new build. Excavation is then carried out to create the basin, carefully considering the depth and shape to optimize water retention and circulation. We will often incorporate elements like sloping banks, native vegetation, and natural stone to mimic the appearance of a naturally formed water body.

Proper drainage systems and erosion control measures are essential to maintain the integrity of a lake or reservoir. Previously we have installed revetments, rock rolls and gabions to help maintain already established banks and prevent erosion affecting newly built areas.
